"She's Turned a Corner"

Kori had a good day today! A lot of positives...so let me start...

Dr. Rao has returned and he has been in a number of times to visit with her today. He said "I think she has finally turned a corner"

She had another MRI and CT scan late Saturday night. He told her that all looks clear and free as far as the potential for another stroke. Another HUGE blessing.

Physical Therapy came in today and worked her out. Melvin, her P.T., said she is improving rapidly and working very hard.
He told her they have a "fun run" coming up this weekend and if she keeps up the progress she just might be able to participate!
Mom says Melvin is so fun and positive.

Today Kori has been sitting up in a chair all day. This is also HUGE! They have removed the breathing machine and now she has a small tube up her nose.

Dr. Rao informed us that her tumor was 5 1/2 inches at its large point and 3 1/2 at the smallest. That seems enormous to me. She has a metal plate and screws in her head...which we did not know about until today. Russ joked that now if she acts a little strange..."we will know she has a screw loose".

Dr. Rao also gave us what we consider to be the best news yet...
after they removed the majority of the tumor, it was broken up and sent to various labs across the country for "genetic mapping". All tests show that this certain kind of tumor has been known to be the best type to respond to treatment. Dr. Rao said that this information is very significant.

We know that there are many rough days ahead. We know that this is still the beginning of a lifetime of treatments and tests....however we are going to CELEBRATE each and every GOOD day!

So today we are celebrating!
