Kori's Texas Home and Family

Kori has been in Texas for 16 days...but it feels like FOREVER!
This is her home away from home....not too shabby! This is actually just one tiny section of her 40 square block home but this is GORGEOUS!

Once Kori moved out of the ICU Ursula came and finally washed her hair and styled it as well. She was so happy to say goodbye to the braids. "She'll miss them like a toothache".

Even Dr. Rao came to see her new do and have a little lunch.

Russ and Kori's (plus Mom and Dad's) lives have been touch dearly by...as I like to call them Kori's Texas Family.
Meet Tim and Tiffany (not pictured) Cash and Scott and Tami Bauer.

Mom has told me a lot about the four of them but I asked her write up a little about them for the blog...

A little about Tim and Tiffany Cash and Scott and Tami Bauer…..Russ was a counselor to Bishop Joel Cash in the Green Valley 5th Ward. Bishop Cash’s youngest brother, Tim, and his wife Tiffany live in Katy, Texas about 45 minutes outside Houston. Bishop Cash contacted Tim and Tiffany about Kori and Russ coming to MD Anderson for Kori’s surgery and asked them to check up on her during their stay. WELL, the Cash’s have literally adopted Kori and Russ and have been their ANGELS!!! Scott and Tami Bauer are the Cash’s best friends and live across the street from them in Katy. Scott is in the Stake Presidency of the Katy Stake. So I guess that Tim and Tiffany told the Bauer’s what was going on with the Hyde’s and the Scott and Tami decided to get in on the action too. These are THE MOST AMAZING people I have ever known. They come to the hospital almost every day bringing food, gifts, friendship, love, etc., and it’s not like they live around the corner. It’s a long way to drive on the scary Houston freeways with those ridiculous Houston drivers. And yet, they come almost every day. Speaking as Kori’s mother, I can’t begin to express what the Cash’s and Bauer’s mean to me. They have been there when our family couldn’t be. Scott has assisted in giving Kori and Russ blessings and they have helped the days pass more quickly for Kori and Russ. The days get awfully long at the hospital and it means so much to have friends drop by for a visit I don’t know that we will EVER be able to repay or thank the Cash’s and Bauer’s appropriately. I only hope they will somehow know how VERY much they are LOVED by our family.
Yesterday once again they came baring gifts of all kinds.
New running shoes that fit around the brace Kori now has to wear...

...all sorts of marathon motivation. Posters, stickers, headbands etc.
Everything to keep Kori working hard towards her next marathon.

Russ and Kori modeling the headbands.

As mom said these four have touched our hearts FOREVER and we will be eternity thankful to a loving Heavenly Father who sent them to our family...especially Kori.

Today Kori received flowers for Mother's day from the kids. I KNOW this was the best part of her day. Being away from them is the hardest part of this whole thing for her I am sure.
She is constantly asking for updates on their days, games, practices, school and church events. They are busy kids and she hasn't missed a beat with their schedules.
See what I mean when I say she is the BEST mom!

This blog post we are asking a special request.
Kori isn't healing very quickly from the effects of the stroke she suffered last week. She is learning to walk slowly but still does not have enough strength to move her arm or sit up for long periods of time. She is very weak and gets very tired...as expected I guess. Although she is working SO HARD in physical therapy she isn't making the progress she needs to in order to come home.
We are asking that all of you who are praying for Kori say a special specific prayer that she will recover enough to be able to return home to her family soon.

Kori has a wonderful attitude. She remains upbeat and continues to push herself to her limits. She told mom on the phone yesterday "I will work as hard as I can so i can come home soon".
We KNOW she will do just that.
