California Hyde-A-Way

I found out that the Hyde's had decided to run on down to California when Russ posted this picture on Instagram.
 Instantly, I was jealous.
This photo was taken in the town we grew up in...
Corona.   Specifically, at Miguels...  our very favorite restaurant.
We have such fabulous memories of this place.
It's your typical California town.
Very crowded.
Kinda dirty.
Graffiti
Vatos and Thugs.
Cripps and Bloods.
Low Riders.

We were the Minority Trifecta
We were White
We were Conservative
We were Mormons

I don't know how we got out alive.
But, we never felt unsafe.
There were only about 50 LDS kids at our High School.
But the great thing about that is we were all good kids and we stuck together.

It's just what Kori needed....  a weekend get-a-way
and a relaxing day at the beach.
Russ got her all set up so she could sit in her lounge chair and listen to the waves crashing on the shore.  There honestly is not a better sound for the soul.
Garrett and Grant loved being at the beach
I am so happy to report that Garrett didn't have any major injuries this time.
He usually has an accident at the beach that involves medical attention.
Gracie worked hard on her sandcastle masterpiece.
They stayed with our long time friends
and Corona natives,
Jaylene and Brian Knoll.
And they came back home rested and relaxed and the best news of all
Kori is returning to us.
She is more like herself every day.
We are so happy that she got to spend a wonderful weekend with her family in a familiar and wonderful place full of happy memories

This week she is back at it in the gym
doing some new and exciting exercises.
She is starting to feel like she is making some progress.
That is the best news ever!!!
